Mesothelioma missing in Africa?

The fact that Mesothelioma is not so rampant in Africa when you consider that the use of asbestos is so rampant is more than a little puzzling. While it is true that diagnosis, which is a problem in many Western countries, is a complete nightmare in Africa, one would still have expected the disease to be a noticeable epidemic.

How do you come by this statement that Mesothelioma is missing in Africa?
I don't have stats for the number of cases there but know there must be some there.

Perhaps we don't hear about these victims because some of the workers and miners that have the disease now, mesothelioma (decades later) left Africa prior to illness and dignosis. Their cases would not be diagnosed in Africa. There would be no medical statistics to measure if the illnesses are not reported.

That said, there were many many African miners and industry workers and families that suffered the impact of asbestos exposure in Africa - and may be suffering right now. Regrettably, I believe these cases suffer in silence - unacknowledged, uncomfortable and uncompensated.

Neglect and apathy is epidemic in the rest of the world where African Asbestos victims are concerned.
